Casaundra Johnson spoke about the upcoming food drive and keeping the event to a virtual food drive again this year. We raised about $7500 last year and think that’s a good goal set again this year. She would start organizing the event and get emails out to the board to see who’s interested in getting involved. They would handle printing for the posters and labels and organize another get together to kick things off. Casuandra could be reached by email at Casaundra@lifturbanportland.org

Ken Anderton – Manager of Business Development & Properties with the Port of Portland did a power point presentation about the $44.1 Million dollar grant that the port received to develop Composite Laminated Timber in the NW and build a CLT innovation center at Terminal 2 in the Guilds Lake Industrial area. The development of T2 would include about $20 million of seismic improvements first and then development of actual buildings for the innovation center. There would be a CLT demonstration building and the work would include R&D from OSU, UofO, and work force development with PCC and Work Source Inc. Ken would be the main contact for the work as it develops and would be available as the project advances. It was noted that both NIBA and CCA are supporters of this development by increasing good paying jobs in manufacturing as well as maintaining the Industrial lands at T2. Ken Anderton can be reached at 503.415.6575 or email Kenneth.anderton@portofportland.com.
